Melee cantrips like Booming Blade and Green-Flame Blade allow you to exceed your normal cantrip damage by combining Shillelagh, an attack cantrip, and the extra 1d6 damage from Symbotic Entity. I've found it has the nice side benefit of me getting more familiar with the special abilities of the different races and classes, which then allows me to help my players better.
