There were some users that were seeing the keypad lock on the SDS100 actually functioning through the Sentinel software in the early versions. I have had lots of scanners in my time. The old scanners worked fine with a amplified speaker plugged in the headphone jack. The jack the on the sds100 is dummied down so low a amplified speaker don't help much. Without the lock symbol printed next to the power button it could cause a lot of confusion when the keypad stopped responding after being locked. If you have a smartphone or other USB device charger you can use it if you don’t want to use the charger that came with the radio. In the car you can use any USB port to power/charge the radio. The SDS100, handheld brother, has the same display format, just smaller and narrower. It also uses a battery pack instead of AA batteries. I knew this was not correct, and went back and double-checked the process below . I think it is IMPORTANT to follow the instructions, to a "T", in order for the process to complete .... Bbandt atm

I updated my SDS200 with no issues on the first attempt. When I attempted the update on my SDS100, it said my firmware was already up-to-date. I knew this was not correct, and went back and double-checked the process below . I think it is IMPORTANT to follow the instructions, to a "T", in order for the process to complete ... I believe it’s Uniden’s use of a radio case (for the SDS100) used in their marine line of portable radios that’s at issue here. The marine case is touted as being waterproof/resistant so Uniden kept the moisture resistant feature and advertised it as a plus for the SDS100. Both fully charged and locked onto one TG, the G5 lasted 20.5 hours, while the SDS lasted 8 hours. G5 screen timeout set to 45 seconds and SDS100 set to 10 seconds. This TG is always quiet and little traffic. .
