With more than 500,000 children in need of humanitarian assistance in eastern Ukraine, a generation is growing up surrounded by violence and fear. Since the conflict began in April 2014, more than 530 children have been killed or injured. Children under the age of six have only ever known their communities in a state of crisis.
This displacement crisis is the fastest exodus in Europe since World War II. Conflict is not new to Ukraine. The country previously fought with Russia in 2014, which forced 1.3 million people from their homes and claimed 14,000 lives.
